Grindhouse Review

A month ago I went and saw Grindhouse at the Astor on limited release for 10 days only. It was shown in it’s true original form with both films back to back, including the fake trailers in between.

The first film Planet Terror, directed by Robert Rodriguez was an action zombie movie with all the guts and gore to match any horror movie of the last decade. Brilliantly acted with a very hardcore B-Grade feel through out the whole film. Pure class. Robert Rodriguez’s ‘trailers’ were quite entertaining as well. My favourite trailer was ‘Machete"emoticon It’s hysterical. ‘Where’s my wife and daughter?!".

Here’s the trailer to Machete

The second film Death Proof, was directed by Quentin Tarantino. An action car chase movie involving girls. emoticon Although it might start off a bit slow with the typical long dialogue sequence that Tarantino is known for, it really kicks some ass when Kurt Russell’s character Stuntman Bob starts to raise some hell against the girls. The Female characters are really likeable and It has one of the best endings of a movie that I’ve seen in a while. Again the b-grade effect is featured all the way through. both films B-grade effects include scratched film, badly edited moments, film jumping, and the cheeky missing reels just when the action starts to get raunchy in both Death Proof and Planet Terror.

This wasn’t just a movie, it was an experience, and to see it at the Astor with it’s original old seats and decor, together with an audience that were wooping, hollering, cheering on the good guys and booing all the bad guys, I’ll never forget it. It’s the best way to see it IMO.

I give it two thumbs up! emoticon

The Astor are repeating the screening of Grindhouse some time in June. Don’t miss it!!!

how to embed youtube videos onto your blog

I found this on the blogsome forum section on how to embed youtube videos directly onto your blog.

Here’s what blog-user leroydubya’s instructions are to other users questions

Hello, I had the same question as to how to embed video. Here is the answer:

"Go into your Dash, Plugins, and disable WYSI-Wordpress, the last Plugin.

That will disable the WYSIWYG editing interface, allowing you to enter raw HTML code."

That’s what I tried and it worked for me.

My 7 step outline

This is the basis of my 7 step outline to my project, although I feel it still might need a few more adjustments here and there.

THE RELUCTANT HITMAN

PREMISE: Trevor, a naive young man who has made a few bad choices recently is given the dire option to kill or be killed.

SET UP: Trevor is sitting in front of the computer at his dull job as a data entry employee for a printing company, on a gloomy Melbourne Monday morning. He’s working to save money to pay off some bad debts and leave Australia to start a new life in America.

INCITING INCIDENT: Bill, a sinister mafia bookie, has tracked down Trevor at his work and makes a threat to him about wanting to collect the debt of $30,000 Trevor has left after some bad gambling choices. When Trevor explains to Bill he can’t come up with the money straight away, Bill gives him the option to settle the debt by killing off Roger -a rival mafia goon of Bills’, or he will be killed.

ACT ONE TURNING POINT: The next morning Trevor breaks into Roger’s apartment. Being a novice at breaking and entering and a hitman, Trevor’s nerves get the better of him, he knocks and bangs creating heaps of noise as he’s making his way around.

MID POINT: Trevor finally makes it to the bedroom knowing that’s where Roger would be and slowly opens the door to see Roger fast asleep, but Roger foils Trevor’s plan by snatching the gun out of Trevor’s hand as soon as he approached the bed.

ACT TWO TURNING POINT: While Trevor is screaming and crying uncontrollably, explaining how extremely remorseful he is, Roger suddenly drops to the floor and starts having a seizure induced by his diabetes. Trevor bewildered at what’s happening [edit] watches as Roger’s seizures finally come to an end.

ACT THREE TURNING POINT: Trevor moves in close on the floor to check for any vital signs of life on Roger only to no avail. On doing this he notices a huge pile of cash underneath the bed. $100,000 worth!

RESOLUTION: Trevor takes the money puts it into a sports bag and leaves the apartment, and makes a quick dash home, with the thought of his dream of starting new in America coming to fruition, and doing it without ever laying a hand on Roger.

PROTAGONIST CHARACTER  BIOGRAPHY

Name: Trevor

Trevor has big aspirations of one day going to America to pursue a career in International Car Importer. He always had an obsession with sporty fast cars and collected a bunch of small model cars as a kid.

Trevor is usually a very cautious young man however, recently - and for the first time, he got involved in an illegal bookie ring hoping to make a quick buck, but ended up with a huge debt owing to Bill, the bookie. Trevor was always hesitant about doing this, but his desire to go to America was stronger than his true instinct. It was only a one-time deal but now has the Bookie on his tail harassing him for the money.

Trevor’s thoughts of seeing his future quickly fading away, he finds himself put in a desperate situation which Bill the Bookie takes advantage of and gives Trevor an option of doing the most heinous sin any man could do, kill someone, and the debt will be settled. Trevor has never held a gun before!
